ABSTRACT: This document replaces GR-836, Issue 2, and its revisions.

This document presents an overview and summary of the information model defined in GR-836-IMD, 'Generic Operations Interface Using OSI Tools - Information Model Details: Transport Configuration and Surveillance for Network Elements,' that specifies the view of Telcordia on generic requirements of the information model for system management interface between Operations Systems (OS's) and Network Elements (NEs). The Transport Configuration and Surveillance model defined in this document is a foundation model that forms the basis for defining application-specific models for managing specific types of NEs, such as synchronous Optical Network (SONET) Transport Information Model. It provides readers with an overall understanding of the generic OS-NE interface information model. For details and implementation or development of the model, readers should refer to GR-836-IMD.
