ABSTRACT: Issue 3 of GR-310-CORE, CCS Operations System (CCS OS) - STP Interface Specification, replaces Issue 2.

This GR document provides the Telcordia view of detailed specifications and related generic functional requirements for the messages comprising the application-message layers (referred to as the "User Program Layer [UPL]") of the mechanized system interface between Common Channel Signaling Operations Systems (CCS OS's) and the Signaling Transfer Points (STPs) of the Telcordia client companies' Common Channel Signaling (CCS) networks.

The function of the CCS OS-STP interface at the application level is to facilitate the transfer of administrative messages and other operations data, in both directions between a CCS OS and each STP, in order to support the various operations functions performed by the CCS OS applications. While the above operations functions were migrated out of the SEAS system to other client company-selected OS platforms, it is anticipated that the current CCS OS-STP message set shall continue to be used by some such successor OS's as a "legacy" operations interface to the STP on an ongoing basis unless later replaced by new, standard, OS-NE interfaces for the corresponding operations functions. Because of this, the interface specification needs to be updated and maintained to provide ongoing support for client-company CCS network operations.

Included in this document are specifications for interface message structure and format; interface message language conventions; the detailed syntax and semantics to be used for individual commands, responses, and autonomous messages generated by each system; and response requirements for each message defined. Also included are capacity requirements and performance criteria for data transfer and a priority structure for the different types of CCS OS-STP interface messages.

The primary reason for reissuing the document is to bring the interface specification up to date so that it accurately reflects currently supported CCS OS data and functions and to true-up new and revised message specifications introduced in the prior issue prior to their implementation. A focus of this activity was the "true-up" of new and modified operations data added in Issue 2 supporting multiple signaling link types, in terms of their link-layer protocols, in particular that provide incremental support for ATM HSLs and M2PA IPVHSLs. Numerous clarifications and corrections are provided in response to supplier and client comments.
