This document provides the Telcordia view of generic requirements and objectives for single-mode fiber optic terminators. Terminators are passive optical components that are designed to provide a low-reflectance end to a fiber optic transmission system. Terminators can prevent reflections in AM video systems that can result in degradation of systems performance in Fiber-In-The-Loop (FITL) and Hybrid Fiber/Coax (HFC) transmission systems.
