ABSTRACT: The use of wrist strap assemblies protect electronic devices and systems, by preventing the accumulation of triboelectric or frictionally generated charge on personnel who handle these devices and systems. This is accomplished by providing a safe discharge path from personnel to ground.

This document defines the Telcordia view of the minimum generic electrostatic, mechanical, and chemical requirements for wrist strap assemblies that are used to ground personnel and provide protection from human-body Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) in static-sensitive environments.

It includes the characteristics of a suitable wrist-strap assembly.
