Automatic Recall (AR) is a Telcordia CLASS feature that allows a customer to automatically return a call to the last incoming call. The customer can request AR activation at any time and need not know the calling number or even the identity of the calling party. The busy/idle status of the calling and called line is monitored, and call setup is attempted when both the calling and called lines are detected to be idle.

This Generic Requirements document (GR) presents the Telcordia view of generic requirements for applications of AR for residential and small business (non-Centrex) customers. The document provides the switching and signaling system procedures to support this feature. Applications of this feature to intra-Centrex calls are not addressed.

Issue 2 of this document incorporates changes to the feature interactions between AR and Calling Name Delivery. The updated requirements were specified in Bulletin 1, April 1995, and have been incorporated into GR-1188, Calling Name Delivery Generic Requirements. In addition, requirements specifying how the Incoming Memory Slot should be updated upon receipt of an operator-assisted call have been changed. These changes were specified in an Industry Alert published in the Telcordia Digest, October 1999.
