ABSTRACT: This document outlines the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for Walk-In Cabinets. These partially buried cabinets (approximately 5 1/2 feet above ground level) can be entered by the craft and are environmentally controlled. The generic requirements define the minimum engineering and technical requirements for metallic and nonmetallic cabinets, which house various types of electronic equipment (Digital Loop Carrier, Fiber in the Loop, etc.) in the outside plant environment. Included in the document are physical, chemical, and electrical requirements and the corresponding test methods for product analysis.
