ABSTRACT: There has always been a need for good quality hardware to install metallic/fiber telecommunications cable, and the installation of Coaxial Cable also requires hardware. Although some of the hardware is unique to coaxial cable, it still should meet the quality and reliability standards that are required of existing hardware.

This document outlines the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for hardware used to install broadband coaxial cable networks used in a typical Local Exchange Carrier or other service providers' network environment. The document includes the physical, mechanical, chemical, and environmental requirements and the corresponding test methods for product analysis.
