ABSTRACT: This Generic Requirements (GR) document provides the view of Telcordia on generic criteria for Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) asymmetric multiplexers.

The criteria in this document addresses both point-to-point systems and ring systems. Since this is the first issue of this GR, the criteria proposed are rather high-level and they concentrate on point-to-point systems. Later issues of this GR can be expected to add more detail to the criteria and expand the scope to cover ring systems in greater detail.
