ABSTRACT: This document replaces GR-2915-CORE, Issue 2.

This Generic Requirements document (GR) presents a detailed description of an application of the Software Management Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) information model to software download and memory restoration. It identifies the managed object classes and their attributes, packages, actions, and notifications that are pertinent to the software download and memory restoration processes and provides a baseline information model.

The programs and data tables of a Network Element (NE) are together known as software generic and service database, respectively. Based on the perspective of service providers, software management involves updating in existing software generic and restoring a corrupted service database. The two software management functional categories are known as software download and memory restoration.
