Issue Date Dec 1996
ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: The Service Control Point (SCP) plays a critical role in delivering Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) services. However, its
traffic-sensitive resources make it susceptible to overload under exceptional traffic conditions.
This document provides the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for the AIN Service Control Point (SCP) Network Traffic
Management (NTM) functions. The NTM functions described in this GR address how the AIN SCP detects and responds to its own overload
and overload in other network elements and systems.
This GR also addresses how the SCP supports manual control actions. Since the AIN SCP responds to both the Service Switching Points
(SSPs) and other SCPs, this document provides functionalities that allow the SCP to process control requests from these entities. The
document also addresses NTM functionality. This GR builds on and makes reference to the SCP functionality in GR-1298, "AINGR:
Switching Systems."
This GR also includes one or more Issue List Reports (ILRs) that details open or closed technical issues in the main document. The
ILR(s) are automatically sent free of charge to the GR document purchaser.
