ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: Customers require flexibility and the ability to economically share network resources. National Integrated Services Digital Network
(ISDN) subscribers desire the latitude to configure their terminal equipment and network services to support a variety of applications
economically. The Auto-SPID (Service Profile IDentifier) capability simplifies ISDN installation for applications and configurations
that require Layer 3 terminal initialization. Without the Auto-SPID capability, the ISDN user, systems integrator, or installer must
manually enter the SPID into a terminal before the terminal can initialize. With Auto-SPID, the terminal initialization procedures on
an ISDN BRI (Basic Rate Interface) are automated by having the Stored Program Control switching System (SPCS) send the SPID to the
terminal.
This Generic Requirements (GR) document contains the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for the Automated SPID Selection
capability on an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Basic Rate Interface (BRI) and builds on the terminal initialization
procedures defined in TR-TSY-000847, ISDN Features Common Switching and Signaling Generic Requirements.
