ABSTRACT: Current wireline and wireless telecommunications industry growth, along with increasing demands on E9-1-1 service, have pushed the
current analog signaling protocol and some E9-1-1 tandem capabilities to their limits. Support for the full 10 digits of the calling
station's number at the E9-1-1 tandem and on the E9-1-1 tandem to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) interface is required in
order for E9-1-1 service to continue to work effectively. Full 10-digit calling station number support and other needs identified by
industry factors are the focus of this generic requirements document.
This requirements needs and other needs identified by industry factors are the focus of this generic requirements document. This
document provides the view of Telcordia on generic requirements to support enhanced MultiFrequency (MF) signaling for the E9-1-1 tandem
to PSAP interface and associated generic requirements for the E9-1-1 tandem and its selective routing functionality.
Additional generic requirements also define the interfaces necessary for E9-1-1 calls arriving at the E9-1-1 tandem from various
signaling and architectural alternatives. These requirements include signaling of information to support wireline calls and signaling
of information associated with Phase 1 to support wireless calls.
Generic requirements for the interface to the PSAP are provided including interaction of the PSAP's Customer Premises Equipment
(CPE) with the E9-1-1 tandem as a network element.
Revision 1 updates generic requirements to include resolutions developed for closed Issues 1-3 in the GR-2953-ILR.
This GR also includes one or more Issue List Reports (ILRs) that details open or closed technical issues in the main document. The
ILR(s) are automatically sent free of charge to the GR document purchaser.
