ABSTRACT: This Generic Requirements (GR) document provides the view of Telcordia on the switching and signaling generic requirements for Local Service Provider Identification (LSPI). LSPI identifies the entity providing local service to a Directory Number (DN) or to a trunk group transport facility.

The goal of this document is to improve the capabilities of all telecommunication networks to offer and bill services provided by multiple companies in an environment where the line or trunk group can be owned on a native, resold, or unbundled basis. These improvements are driven by the requirements of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The LSPI capability described in GR-2970 supports the accurate provisioning, transmission, and usage measurement of one or more LSPIs associated with a circuit-switched call.

This GR also includes one or more Issue List Reports (ILRs) that details open or closed technical issues in the main document. The ILR(s) are automatically sent free of charge to the GR document purchaser.
