ABSTRACT: Telcordia has developed a broad range of Operations Support Systems (OSS's) to support Total Network Provisioning, i.e., the planning, inventorying, assigning, provisioning, monitoring of the telephone networks used by major U.S. telephone companies.

The TIRKS System is one of these OSS's. The TIRKS System is the OSS used for circuit order control, circuit provisioning, and inventory management of facilities and equipment. One of the key elements of the circuit provisioning process is the use of a Function Code to select the correct equipment to be used on a special services or message circuit or carrier system.

This GR addresses the TIRKS System Function Coding procurement procedures required of the suppliers to request the development of the TIRKS System Function Codes.
