ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: This document provides the proposed view of Telcordia on detailed functional generic requirements for Fault Management based on
Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) principles and the Management Application Functions (MAFs) defined in GR-2869-CORE,
Generic Requirements for Operations Based on the Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) Architecture. This document covers
Alarm Surveillance, Fault Localization, Fault Correction, Trouble Administration, and Quality Assurance.
The generic requirements in this document are intended to apply to all telecommunications technologies. The MAFs specified in this
document are atomic units of operations functionality based on an international consensus in ITU-T Recommendation M.3400, "TMN
Management Functions." The generic requirements for MAFs and the interactions between them to serve operations processes are described
in detail.
This document should be of particular interest to systems engineers and operations planners involved in operations system design
development, procurement, or consulting.
