ABSTRACT: This Generic Requirements document (GR) describes a baseline set of requirements applicable to indoor electronic equipment cabinets.
These requirements have been derived from the requirement list and testing rationale found in GR-487, Generic Requirements for

The indoor cabinet described in this GR consists of the outer-finished closure box along with its integral hardware components, such
as:
- Bonding and grounding connections
- Internal walls and braces for splicing chambers and battery compartments
- Frame and shelving tracks
- Doors, seals, and hinges.
GR-3031 is intended to apply to cabinets placed inside the outer physical envelope of a building or structure where the space has
active environmental controls to control temperature, humidity, and air quality of the ambient space. This includes cabinets located in
domed, covered stadiums and enclosed garages.
GR-3031 includes:
- Operating environment
- Test environmental criteria
- Detailed requirements on safety and reliability, materials, finish, security, power, installation and maintenance, quality,
temperature, materials, noise, impact resistance, shock and vibration, and corrosion resistance.
GR-3031 is intended for the use of manufacturers and end users of cabinets and enclosures used to house electronic or
telecommunications equipment that will be utilized in an indoor environment.
GR-3031, Generic Requirements for Indoor Electronic Equipment Cabinets, is new.
When using GR-3031, you may want to refer to GR-3171, GR-487, GR-3108, and GR-63.
