ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: The North American Digital Network consists of sources of digital signals, including channel banks, digital switches, and multiplexers
interconnected by transmission facilities. These operate at several different bit rates. At any one level in the digital hierarchy,
there may be several signal sources with unique bit-stream formats. These need to have certain common characteristics to permit
interconnection with transmission facilities at that level and with multiplexers connecting to a higher level.
This Generic Requirements (GR) document describes the view of Telcordia on the High-Capacity Digital Special Access Services that
Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) offer their customers and covers distinguishing service features, technical requirements and compatible
interfaces. The document provides quantitative and qualitative descriptions of the available services and describes the interfaces at
a Digital System Cross-Connect (DSX) Carrier (CXR) Point Of Termination (POT) for all levels of the digital hierarchy and at a DSX End
User Point of Termination (EU-POT) for rates above DS1 (1.544 Mb/s).
GR-342 replaced TR-INS-000342 and PUB-62508.
GR-334, TR-NWT-000335, TR-NPL-000336, GR-337, GR-338, TR-NPL-000339, TR-NPL-000340, TR-NWT-000341, and GR-342 were formerly bundled
as TR-TSY-000333.
When using GR-342, you may need to refer to GR-436. You may also want to refer to GR-54, TR-NWT-000341,
TA-TSY-000435, GR-499, SR-307, and several ANSI T1-series standards.
