ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: GR-350 replaces TR-TSY-000350, Issue 1, November 1987, but contains NO TECHNICAL CHANGES from that original document. It has been
issued strictly to conform with the new Telcordia Technologies document format and GR process, and carries a new issue number and date.
The document describes the view of Telcordia on the interface between a 1/1A ESS switch and an Enhanced 911 (E911) Public Safety
Answering Point (PSAP). The 3-digit telephone number, 9-1-1, has been designated for public use throughout the United States to report
an emergency, request emergency assistance, or both. This number is intended as a nationwide, universal telephone number to provide the
public with direct access to a PSAP. A PSAP is an agency or group of agencies designated and authorized to receive and respond to
emergency calls. The E911 feature provides enhanced 911 service capabilities and optional PSAP customer services for completing and
handling 911 calls. With E911 service, a 1ESS or 1AESS switching system serves as an E911 tandem office for all 911 calls from other
local offices in the 911 service area, and as a local office for 911 calls from its own local area.
NOTE: The information contained in the original TR was current as of the 1985 documentation supplied by the manufacturer. For more
current information, the user of this document should contact Lucent Technologies and the appropriate Local Exchange Carrier (LEC).
