ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: GR-524 replaces TR-TSY-000524, Issue 2 and Revision 1, but contains NO TECHNICAL CHANGES from that original document. It has been
issued strictly to conform with the new Telcordia Technologies document format and GR process, and carries a new issue number and date.
For your convenience, Revision 1 has been interfiled into the main CORE document.
This Generic Requirements (GR) document contains the following Customer Switching System generic requirements: Private Branch
Exchange (PBX) Line, Direct Inward Dialing, and Routing of Hotel/Motel calls.
A Private Branch Exchange (PBX) line (PBX-Stored Program Controlled switching System [SPCS] trunk) is a line appearance at the local
switching system that permits connection to a customer premise switching system.
The Direct Inward Dialing (DID) feature allows incoming calls to a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) to complete to specific PBX
stations without attendant assistance. The station to which a given call should be completed is determined by the PBX using address
information provided by the serving local switch.
This document also provides requirements for the Routing of Hotel/Motel Calls. This feature provides the switching system the
ability to recognize calls requiring detailed billing from lines assigned the feature, route them to an operator system, and pass on
the hotel identity (billing directory number) and the fact that the call is a hotel/motel call. The provision of this information
permits the operator system to:
- Identify the call as a hotel/motel call
- Identify it as a 0+ or 1+ call
- Provide billing information not only to Automatic Message Accounting (AMA), but also to a billing system dedicated to hotel/motel
calls, through which the billing information is forwarded to the hotel.
