ABSTRACT: Subscribers of the Call Waiting (CW) feature occasionally find it desirable to inhibit the feature on their telephone lines for the duration of a call. Problems arise when an acoustically coupled data terminal (modem) is being used with a station equipped with CW, and subscribers who do not wish to be disturbed by the CW tone burst on important phone calls have no means to deactivate the feature. This Generic Requirements document (GR) describes the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for Cancel Call Waiting (CCW), which is an addition to the CW feature and enables the CW subscriber to disable the CW feature for the duration of the telephone call.

GR-572 replaces TR-TSY-000572, Issue 1 and Revision 1, but contains NO TECHNICAL CHANGES from that original document. It has been issued strictly to conform with the new Telcordia Technologies document format and GR process, and carries a new issue number and date. Revision 1 to TR-TSY-000572 has been interfiled into GR-572.
