Outward Wide Area Telecommunications Service (OUTWATS) is a form of Direct Distance Dialing (DDD) telephone service that allows a
customer to place a substantial volume of long-distance calls to specified geographical areas at reduced rates. OUTWATS is provided as
an alternative to tie lines, private switched networks, DDD, and other such services. OUTWATS is available as an interstate or
intrastate service and provides the customer with direct-dialed or operator-assisted service to a predetermined area. This GR describes
the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for OUTWATS service.
