A necessary feature for an Integrated Digital Loop Carrier (IDLC) system is to provide bridged services when one or more lines are served on an IDLC. The elimination of the Subscriber Main Distributing Frame (SMDF) for lines terminated on an IDLC eliminates the Central Office (CO) point of access where lines have been traditionally bridged, physically opened, and electrically tested. This GR describes the view of Telcordia on generic functional requirements for digital bridging arrangements for subscriber lines terminated on an IDLC system.
