ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: GR-674 replaced TR-TSY-000674, Issue 1, and its Revision 1, but contains NO TECHNICAL CHANGES from that original document. It has been
issued strictly to conform with the new Telcordia Technologies document format and GR process, and carries a new issue number and date.
Telephone calls that are not completed as desired usually terminate in recorded announcements or call progress tones. Automated call
disposition devices need to recognize these announcements and tones for quality assessment and quality control uses. However, automated
detection devices cannot distinguish recorded voice from a live voice answer unless a machine-detectable signal is included with the
recorded announcement. Special Information Tones (SITs) are used to identify network-provided announcements and are also used to alert
the calling customer that a machine-generated announcement follows. This GR describes the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for
SITs. The revision deletes the text regarding the requirement for recorded announcement speech level and the method of measurement.
For your convenience, the revision has been interfiled into the main document.
