ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: GR-793 replaces TR-TSY-000793, Issue 1, October 1988, and its Bulletin 1, November 1994, and Revision 1, October 1994. There are NO
TECHNICAL CHANGES from the original document. It has been issued strictly to conform with the new Telcordia Technologies document
format and GR process, and carries a new issue number and date.
GR-793 describes the Telcordia view of the generic requirements for a local Stored Program Control switching System (SPCS).
SPCS is capable of offering a data link layer (Layer 2) user access to an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) on the
D-Channel of a Basic or Primary rate interface. Each ISDN exchange access interface requires a D-Channel on which SPCS gives priority
to voice and data call control signaling. The SPCS D-Channel is functionally organized into layers, consisting of the physical layer
(Layer 1), the data link layer (Layer 2), and the network layer (Layer 3). This document focuses on generic SPCS requirements for the
D-Channel and Layer 2 only.
To follow GR-793-CORE, you may need to refer to GR-268, and TR-NWT-000397.
