ABSTRACT: This document contains two segments. The first segment (Sections 2 to 7) provides criteria for presentation and interactive elements associated with a user interface. These presentation and interactive elements are building blocks for various methods of user dialogs such as menu dialog. The second segment (Section 8) presents a menu system with which a human user can support the operations of next-generation transport network elements including SONET, FITL, and IDLC products.
