ABSTRACT: Switched access services provide switched connections between customers of exchange telephone service and subscribers to the access service. Feature Group A (FG A) switched access service is one of these exchange carrier services. FG A switched access service provides line-side connection to end office switching systems of channels to the FG A subscriber.

This Technical Reference (TR) describes the view of Telcordia on FG A switched access service, specifies the protocols for making calls, provides references to quantitative signal characteristics, and summarizes the interactions that occur at the Point Of ermination (POT) to achieve compatible operation.
