This includes criteria applicable to Wideband and Broadband DCS's (W-DCS's and B-DCS's). Therefore, refer to GR-2996-CORE. For non-SONET or asynchronous DCS technology, such as DCS 3/1, EDSX 1/1, or EDSX 3/3, refer to TR-NWT-000233.

This Technical Reference (TR) provides the view of Telcordia on the generic functional criteria for Wideband and Broadband Digital Cross-Connect Systems (W-DCS's and B-DCS's) used in the interoffice networks. W-DCS provides Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), DS3 (44.736 Mbps) and clear channel DS1 (1.544 Mbps) interfaces and the basic functions of a floating Virtual Tributary 1.5 (VT 1.5) and DS1 level cross-connection. B-DCS provides SONET and clear channel DS3 interfaces and the basic function of Synchronous Transport Signal Level 1 (STS-1) and DS3-level cross-connections. This document also includes criteria applicable to a DCS 3/1.
