ABSTRACT: This Technical Reference (TR) presents the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for the use of the Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) protocol to support Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) basic and primary rate access. This document describes procedures for using the ISDN User Part of SS7 to establish and release interoffice circuit connections for calls that either originate from or terminate to an ISDN interface. The procedures in this document support setting up calls using the following transfer capabilities: speech, 3.1-kHz audio, 7-kHz audio, and unrestricted digital information.
