This Technical Reference (TR) gives the Telcordia view of minimum requirements that are currently appropriate for rack-mountable fuse panels used in central offices. The fuse panels described in this TR are intended to be rack-mountable as part of the central office dc power supply in the Secondary Distribution and Protection System. The panels provide individual overcurrent protection for each power distribution line that supplies the rated electrical potential to circuits requiring a power source. The panels indicate the power status of the fused systems and provide alarms to indicate possible service interruptions. The fuse panels described in this document use alarm indicating fuses that have current ratings with a maximum of 10 amperes, and the panels are intended to operate continuously at a maximum voltage of 60 volts positive or negative ground.
