ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: A splice closure provides the means to restore the integrity of a cable sheath following a sheath opening for the purpose of wire
joining, the installation of an isolation capacitor or pressure dam, the repair of a damaged sheath, or the closing of initial gaps
between sheaths at splice points. The splice closure must restore the sheath's electrical and mechanical properties.
This Technical Reference (TR) outlines the generic requirements for cable entrance splice closures for copper cable. Cable entrance
splice closures are used in both central office and subscriber building entrance facilities, including those employing plastic sheath
feeder cable containing less than 400 wire pairs.
