ABSTRACT: This Technical Reference (TR) provides the Telcordia view of generic equirements and objectives for fiber optic cable locators (both all-dielectric and metallic-based) that should be met in order to meet the typical needs of Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and other service providers. The document includes operational and mechanical requirements and objectives, performance requirements and objectives, and performance tests to compare cable locators against the stated requirements.
