ABSTRACT: This Technical Reference (TR) outlines the generic requirements for Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) Cross-Connect Terminal Blocks. IDC cross-connect terminal blocks are housed in cable interface cabinets. Feeder and distribution cables enter these cabinets and are spliced to appropriate wire pairs of the terminal block's wiring harness, or are terminated directly to the terminal block if a wiring harness is not used. Connections are made between feeder and distribution wire pairs by running jumper wires between the appropriate terminals. Since these terminal blocks utilize IDC-type terminals, jumper wires are not stripped prior to termination.
