ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: This document replaces TA-NWT-001223.
Fuses constitute a principal element for the protection of wire,
cable, and bus bar in DC power plant distribution systems and are expected to operate quickly under overload or short-circuit
conditions. By operating quickly, excessive flow of energy through the power distribution system and to the telecommunications loads
from the DC power system's rectifiers and batteries is minimized. This process reduces the energy flow into the telecommunications
loads and reduces the damage to facilities such as cable support systems, buildings, and structures.
This Technical Reference (TR) presents the Telcordia view of generic requirements for fuses used in the protection of wire, cable,
and bus bar from overloads and short-circuits in the primary and secondary DC power distribution of telecommunications power plants.
These fuses are expected to meet a service provider's overcurrent and short-circuit protection needs.
When using TR-NWT-001223, you may need to refer to GR-63, GR-78, and SR-332. You may also need to refer to GR-26,
GR-43, and/or ANSI/NFPA-70 (the NEC)
