ABSTRACT: Corrosion of the various terminations found in the outside plant has always been of serious concern to the telecommunications industry. Corrosion may be due to electrolytic or atmospheric conditions, or a combination of both. The terminations may be on the customer's premises or in outdoor locations above or below ground.

This Technical Reference (TR) describes the Telcordia view of generic requirements for corrosion washes that should be accomplished without disassembly of the connections and with no mechanical supplementation. The document includes formulation screening and functional tests used to determine the performance of a product.
