ABSTRACT: A cable sheath repair provides a means to restore the integrity of the cable sheath following a sheath opening resulting from trouble openings, or the repair of a damaged sheath. The repair must restore the cable sheath's electrical and mechanical properties.

This Technical Reference (TR) provides the Telcordia view of generic requirements for aerial, buried, and underground applications of cable sheath repair. It includes the electrical and mechanical requirements, the desired features and characteristics in a sheath repair design, and the test methods for comparing the product against the stated requirements.
