ABSTRACT: T-carrier housings are designed to protect T-carrier line repeaters and their related equipment (i.e., fault locate filters, load coils, etc.) from environmental conditions that may impair their effective operation. The housing is also designed to discourage unauthorized access. T-carrier repeater housings provide mounting facilities, connectors, and wiring to accommodate the equipment. Depending on their intended application, the cases may be mounted above ground on pedestals or telephone poles, or below ground in manholes.

This Technical Reference (TR) provides the Telcordia view of both the engineering and technical requirements for repeater housings used in outside plant applications. The document includes the basic electrical and mechanical requirements, the desired features and characteristics of a design; and test methods to compare the product against the stated generic requirements.
