ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: The air feeder pipe, which is basically a plastic tube with a bonded aluminum liner, is used to supply dry air to the aircore cable
network. The bonded aluminum liner serves as a moisture permeation barrier, increases pipe strength, and improves formability. The dry
air, which is supplied at a pressure of approximately 10 PSIG (Pounds per Square Inch Gauge), prevents water from entering through
cable sheath and joint faults.
This Technical Reference (TR) provides the Telcordia view of generic requirements for the features and functions of the air feeder
pipe used in the aircore cable, pressurization network.
