ABSTRACT: This Technical Reference (TR) outlines the Telcordia view of generic requirements for a new, long life, more reliable lashed cable support.

Plastic and metal lashed cable supports are used in aerial cable construction as well as for supporting main and stub cables at splices.

Most currently available plastic supports have a relatively short life that is largely dependent on their ability to resist environmental degradation.

The generic requirements contained herein are designed to encourage the development and manufacture of lashed cable supports having a minimum service life of 20 years.
