OTGR Section 11.3: Generic Operations Interface - Embedded Operations Channels
Document Number TR-TSY-000829
Issue Number 01
Updates REV01 - Sep 1996
Issue Date Dec 1989
ORDERING INFORMATION
ABSTRACT: Operations messages sent between Operations Systems (OS's) and Network Elements (NEs) can be transported over dedicated links or over
existing service links that provide an Embedded Operations Channel (EOC). In addition, EOCs may exist with the customer access network
to provide NE-to-NE operations communications. The EOC resides within a digital signal format.
This Technical Reference (TR) contains the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for EOCs. Two Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
specifications are defined that are encountered in the various transport architectures in the Integrated Services Digital Network
(ISDN) Basic Access network.
The first EOC interface specification defined is derived from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) T1.601-1988. The
second EOC interface addressed in this document represents the view of Telcordia on generic requirements for a broader EOC
specification that would provide capabilities for transmitting send operations messages between the ISDN switch and network element
line units that support performance monitoring capabilities.
Revision 1 presents a clarification to the data format used for the MP-EOC Data Read and Data Write modes.
TR-TSY-000829 and TR-TSY-000830 replaced TA-TSY-000784.
When using TR-TSY-000829, you may need to refer to GR-303. You may also want to refer to GR-828 (replaced TA-TSY-000285),
TR-NWT-000397, GR-793, ANSI T1.601, and/or ITU-T Q.920 and Q.921.
