Enterprise License FAQs
What is an Enterprise License? An Enterprise License is an agreement that allows your company to distribute a GR or SR technical document to all employees in your company. It does not allow you to share the license with third parties. See Enterprise License Agreement for more information.
Are single-user licenses available? No. Technical documents are provided only as Enterprise Licenses. This better represents the value your company derives from the document and how the intellectual property is used.
I don't need to make copies. Only one person is using the document. Why do I have to pay for an Enterprise License? Technical documents of this nature are licensed because a company needs the technical information in the running of its business or production of its products. The business, not the individual, benefits from the GR. We recognize that in some cases the entire corporation or "enterprise" for some large conglomerates may not need GRs (e.g., companies that manufacture aircraft parts and x-ray machines in addition to telecommunications equipment). In these cases, licensing will be based on the size of the business unit that needs the document.
Not all license fees are listed on your store. Why? For some of our renowned industry requirement documents, fees are not posted on the e-commerce site, and the license fees are based on several factors. The primary factor we consider is the market value of the intellectual property, or the value of the technology in the marketplace. Other factors include the age of the document (how old is the information) and the size of the purchasing company. To obtain a price on these new or reissued documents, please complete a License Fee Quote form located in the Ordering Information box for each document.
Why do you need the size of my company for a license fee quote? Company size is a surrogate for the value to a client. For this metric, we have made an effort to be fair across a broad range of clients. Company revenue is a common pricing metric used in technology industries.
If I request a license fee quote, do I have to buy the document? No. Requesting a quote does not obligate you in any way.
How long does it take to get a license fee quote? A Customer Service representative will contact you within two business days or less. We will honor your quote for 30 days.
